Isaacs named Chairman of New Haven
CID
New Haven,
January 2006 - John Isaacs, Vice President of George J. Smith & Son
Real Estate, was inducted as the Chairman of the New Haven CID
Tuesday night December 13 at the group’s annual awards and holiday
dinner. Mr. Isaacs will serve as Chairman for one year and replaces
Michael Gordon of Levey, Miller, Maretz in the post.
The New Haven
CID, which stands for the Commercial Investment Division of the
Greater New Haven Association of Realtors, is a networking group of
commercial real estate agents, developers, lenders and others who
meet monthly to share information about listings and needs, success
stories and heartaches and most importantly do deals. Members get
to know and trust one another and relationships among brokers allow
business to be conducted faster and with greater efficiency, thus
bringing economic benefit to the area.
New Haven’s CID
is one of the most active known anywhere. The group has
approximately 140 members and averages attendance of 50 to 70
members at each meeting. Meetings are held at a different
commercial real estate property on the third Wednesday of each
month. There are also CID groups in lower Fairfield County,
Danbury, Waterbury, Eastern Connecticut and a Connecticut State
CID. Due to the dedication of its members and past Chairmen over
many years, New Haven CID has been wildly successful and acts as
model for other CID groups. Membership costs $25 annually.
“In my role as
chairman, it is important to follow tradition that has been so
successful and gently infuse a few new ideas to keep it fresh. I
look forward to working with Kevin Weirsman, my Vice Chairman, and
all the members to make 2006 a successful year for commercial real
estate in the New Haven area.” Said Isaacs adding “I have a goal to
increase membership by 10%, increase meeting attendance and help
others CIDs grow. The greater the number of brokers involved, the
better the markets work.”
Isaacs has been a
commercial real estate agent for 2 years and has experience selling
and leasing retail, industrial and office property as well as land.
He is a candidate for the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM)
designation and a member of the Greater New Haven Association of
Realtors®, Connecticut Association of Realtors® and the National
Association of Realtors®.
Prior to real
estate, Isaacs has 10 years experience as Vice President of Barrie
Ltd. Booters (New Haven, West Hartford and Boston), a retail
business started by his grandfather in 1934. Prior to taking a
position in the family business, he worked in finance and business
management in multiple divisions of United Technologies including
Sikorsky, Carrier, and Pratt and Whitney.
In 1989, Isaacs earned a B.S. degree in Finance from Babson College.
A graduate of Hamden Hall and The Foote School (New Haven), he is a
native of the New Haven area. He founded CT Cities Association, an
organization involved in promoting the health of downtown New Haven
in the 1990’s.
